General Research Areas

Broadly, my research interests lie in examining the relationship between social actions and health outcomes. More specifically, I am interested in how individuals navigate multiple structural forces in shaping their actions, and how these actions, in turn, produce diverse health consequences. Currently, I'm interested in three empirical domains: (1) how individuals organize multiple cultural repertoires and how this process relates to the concept of behavioral addiction; (2) strategies for surveilling and preventing chronic diseases and mental illness across the different stages of life course; and (3) the effects of cultural repertoires and their meanings on the transmission of communicable diseases.
